Reading assignment and thought questions
Here are the thought questions for our next reading by Uitterlinden et al. 2008. Typed answers to the following questions are due in lecture on Monday, October 12th:
- Based on the introduction, what are the relationships between GlcN, GlcN-HCl, GlcN-Ac, HA and HAS? For example, is one made by another or is part of another?
- What is the hypothesis being tested by this study?
- What conclusion can be drawn from the data in figure 1? Use the data in the figure to support your answer.
- The paper refers to different isoforms of HAS. What is meant by the term isoform?
- What conclusion can be drawn from the data in figure 3? Use the data in the figure to support your answer.
- Did the authors support their hypothesis?
- Describe one interesting point made in the discussion section.
